LOS ANGELES METRO CHAPTER

Presidents Message

from Frank Scarcelli. Interim President

July 2007

Dear Members:

I am honored to assume the duties of President of the LA Metro Chapter, and I thank former President Roland Westgate for the hard work and devotion he has shown over the past year.

As president, I am committed and firmly believe that our chapter can assist all members in their journey to develop new relationships, meet new challenges, and grow professionally.  I am fortunate to serve with a dedicated group of board members who offer years of experience with management accounting and the IMA. Collectively the LA Metro Board is charting out a new course for the chapter, to invigorate ourselves and each of you and ultimately to help improve our association, careers and profession.

In my view, the role of the IMA has become increasingly more important. As members, we need to influence the atmosphere in which management accountants and organizations work and achieve greater efficiencies in accounting practices and rules that enhance the meaningfulness and ease of reporting while assuring that corporations are governed in a way that achieves the expectations of their stakeholders, including investors, employees, and society at large.

I encourage you all to attend our meetings and special activities this year, pursue the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation ---and to network with others who work in the accounting profession.  I’d like your help to try to find out what we as a Chapter need to do to draw our members out, so they can take advantage of the many educational and other opportunities  at our local technical meetings that membership in IMA provides.
